Nepal Medical College

 

Admission

To be eligible for selection to the undergraduate medical course, a candidate should have:
• Completed 17 years of age, and 
• Completed 10+2 years of education or Intermediate of Science or equivalent, with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects and he/she must have passed in all the subjects mentioned above, securing not less than 50% of marks in the subjects mentioned above put together and also obtain an aggregate of 50% overall. 
OR 
Completed B.Sc. degree recognized by the university with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary level and he/she should have scored not less than aggregate of 50% marks; provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying examination (10+2 or an equivalent examination) with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

REGISTRATION 
A candidate admitted to the course in the University Medical School or any of the affiliated medical colleges shall register with the University by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application form for registration duly filled in and forwarded to the University through the Dean of the School or the Principal of the affiliated college within the stipulated date.

SELECTION
The selection of the candidates is by: 
a. Kathmandu University Medical Test (KUMET) for Nepali Citizens followed by interview at NMC under self financing scheme. 
b. Interview for international candidates by NMC under self-financing scheme.
NOTE:
1. Candidates who are the citizens of India must submit Eligibility Certificate issued by the Medical Council of India, New Delhi for registration of MBBS application forms at NMC for the selection test by interview, failing which, the candidates will be debarred from taking the selection test.
2. The final approval for admission of international students to the MBBS program at Nepal Medical College lies with Kathmandu University. Hence, all those international students selected by Nepal Medical College for MBBS program to be started in February 2009, shall only have the status of provisional admission after selection interview until approved by granting of University Registration Number by Kathmandu University.
The nature of interview shall be the same for the Nepalese and international students and students shall be selected on merit basis only.
3. Nomination from Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education for freeship of 10% of total admission number. Interview by NMC shall not be required for the Government nominated candidates. 

Student Fee Categories
The total fee for the MBBS programme for those students admitted at NMC during the Academic Year 2009-2010 shall be as follow :
1. NEPALESE CITIZENS
Payment of Rs. 30,00,000.00 (Thirty hundred thousand rupees) shall be one time, at the time of admission.

Note
•    All figures mentioned above are applicable for students admitted for the academic year 2009-2010 only.
•    Admission Fee must be paid by Nepalese Students at the time of admission.
•    International students must pay Admission fee during the time of admission and then after annual fees must be cleared by the month of September. Failure to make payment by the time mentioned will be liable for paying fine as per NMC fiscal rules.
•    No student will be allowed to sit in the sessional examination at NMC or Kathmandu University MBBS Examinations without clearing all dues.
•    Parents and students are informed through this prospectus about the requirement for making payment of college fees and hostel charges in due course of time as written above and NMC will not be held responsible in case students are debarred from taking the Sessional Examination held by the College or Kathmandu University MBBS Examination by the university due to nonpayment.
•    Fees paid are non-refundable.

Registration procedure
Applications from eligible students for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program will be invited once in an academic year. For Resident Nepalese students this will be after the Kathmandu University Medical Entrance Test (KUMET) held in August 2009. The resident Nepalese must submit applications to Nepal Medical College from August 17, 2009 (Bhadra01,2066). All the students must apply to the principal for admission. Applications in the names of persons, other than the Principal of NMC, will not be considered for admission.

Those who would like to register the application forms for the interview to be held by the examination section for selecting students for 13th Batch MBBS program, must also deposit NRs 4,000.00 in Rastriya Banijya Bank Account No. 134000118701 as interview fee. The Registration Form together with interview fee deposit fee slip is to be submitted to the examination section for registration for the NMC interview.

Method of selection student at NMC
The students nominated by Government of Nepal will be enrolled into the program without taking the college interview.
The Resident Nepalese students under full fee payment self financing scheme must pass the KUMET 2009 Examination of Kathmandu University before registering the application in the college. The candidates along with their parents will be called for interviews which will be notified by telephone by Nepal Medical College by the college. The final list of selected students for admission will be published by NMC. Equity and equality for both the genders will be honoured during the student selection process.
The Non-Resident Nepalese and international students shall be selected by interview on the merit basis only.

Admission Procedure
Names of students selected by the NMC Student Selection Committee will be forwarded to the Fiscal section of NMC where the student must make full payment by the date notified. Failure to get admitted in the MBBS program by the principal candidates within date mentioned above will automatically permit the admission of alternate candidates in order of merit from the waiting list.
