BAMS (Bachelors of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is 5 ½years as doctors course, offered by Institute of Medicine (IOM), T.U. BAMS program is running in Ayurveda Campus & Teaching Hospital, Kirtipur as a branch of IOM, T.U. It consists of 3 professionals each 1 ½ years and 1year internship. The 4 ½ years of academic course contains integrated medicine, paraclinical and clinical subjects with hospital practise. One has to do juniour internship of about 9 months in IOM, Maharajgunj Campus during 3rd professionals. After completion of academic course, everyone has to complete 1 year rotational internship in Ayurveda Campus & Teaching Hospital as well as in Naradevi Ayurveda Hospital. Ayurveda is a potential and virgin field for research & has a wholesome potential are to provide the world for years and years to come. According to WHO, more than 60% of people in the world are still relaying on Ayurveda and other herbal medicine for the health purposes. In Nepal, more than 80% people are using Ayurvedic and herbal medicine. Furthermore, its scope and importance are rapidly increasing due to its safety measure, efficiancy, easily availability and affordability. Recently, the construction work of National Ayurveda Research and Training Centre has been started under the financial and technical support of 68 crore, aided by the Government of China under the Department of Ayurveda. Its own Teaching Hospital is under the construction in its own land (107 ropanies ) alloted by Tribhuvan University. To enroll in BAMS one has to take the entrance examination conducted by IOM, Maharajgunj. The top 15 merit list will be provided scholorship and the 10 can get admission on donation. The examination paper consists of General science ( Physics, Chemistry, Biology)-75 marks and basic concept of Ayurveda and Health Science-25 marks. |
